Gear Up for Kids: Sponsor the Mayor’s Bike Ride & Kids Bike Rodeo
(Huntsville, ON) The Town of Huntsville is now inviting local businesses and community partners to support its Gear Up for Kids Program, a community-driven initiative that helps put bikes – and confidence – into the hands of local youth.
The Gear up for Kids Program includes the Mayor’s Bike Ride and Kids Bike Rodeo, taking place on Thursday, June 12, 2025. These two family-friendly events promote bike safety, physical activity, and the power of active transportation – a simple, sustainable way to get around that improves mental health, reduces chronic health issues, and fosters a healthier, more connected community.
Mayor Nancy Alcock launched the Gear Up for Kids challenge to bring residents, businesses, and organizations together in support of local youth through the gift of a bike. The initiative reflects her belief that a community-focused approach to active transportation is key to building a vibrant and inclusive Huntsville.
“Access to active transportation, like biking, helps build independence, confidence, and connection,” says Mayor Alcock. “When we give a child a bike, we’re not just supporting physical health. We’re investing in their well-being and in the future of our community.”
This year’s goal is to secure five sponsors, which will put five bikes in the hands of local youth. Each $450 sponsorship covers the cost of a new bike and safety gear for one child.
