Media Release: Town of Huntsville Operations Update – April 2, 2025
(Huntsville, ON) Environment Canada has issued a Special Weather Statement and a Freezing Rain Warning for Huntsville tonight and into Thursday morning. Huntsville is forecast to receive a wintry mix of precipitation this evening with snowfall and ice pellets that will transition into freezing rain tonight. Easternly winds gusting near 50km/h are also anticipated. As temperatures rise, freezing rain will transition to rain overnight into early Thursday morning. Total rainfall amounts of 15 to 25 mm are anticipated.
With ice buildup forecast at 2-5mm combined with the high winds, falling trees and branches as well as icy road conditions are anticipated. Residents should plan for potential power outages and avoid non-essential travel tonight.
The District of Muskoka’s State of Emergency remains in effect for District roads and services until key restoration benchmarks are met. The District will continue to evaluate curbside waste collection this week, and residents are encouraged to visit www.muskoka.on.ca/spring-ice-storm for update or consider the District of Muskoka’s Waste App for up-to-date information.
The Town of Huntsville will continue to monitor conditions and provide updates on operations as required. Residents are encouraged to monitor weather and local media for updates.
The Town of Huntsville would like to thank our Public Works crews, utility crews and emergency responders in our region who have worked to support our community during this spring storm.
