News Notice: Province and District Announce $50 Million Investment for Water and Wastewater Infrastructure for New Homes in Huntsville

(Huntsville, ON) Last week on September 11, District of Muskoka Chair Jeff Lehman and Huntsville Mayor Nancy Alcock welcomed the Honourable Kinga Surma, Minister of Infrastructure, and MPP Graydon Smith to the Mountview Wastewater Treatment Plant in Huntsville for an announcement that $50 million in new funding through the Housing-Enabling Water Systems Fund is being invested in Muskoka.

 

This investment will support essential water and wastewater infrastructure improvements, enabling the construction of 3,200 new homes in Huntsville to help address the District’s growing housing needs.

 

“One of the key pillars of the Town of Huntsville’s Strategic Plan is ‘Balanced Growth’ – this important investment into water and wastewater infrastructure will help us to achieve this goal. I want to say a big thank you to the Province and the District for their investment in the future of Huntsville; our Town cannot have sustainable growth without increased capacity for our water and wastewater systems,” says Mayor Nancy Alcock. “I am so glad to be seeing the Mountview and Golden Pheasant Wastewater Treatment Plant upgrades projects coming to fruition; we are very proud and grateful to have one of the largest infrastructure projects in the District’s history taking place right here in Huntsville, to the benefit of our residents and future residents as we continue to grow.”
